So, why another outdoor gear company?, why now? and what
will be different about our offering?
Firstly just for the record: 'we do not wish to be defined by a
weight category', although our product line up will lend itself to outfitting
towards the lighter end of the scale. We see ourselves as
multi-discipline, our gear is suited to wild backpacking, urban backpacking, cycle touring / bikepacking and kayak / canoe touring. We hope the consensus will be, that each of our designs has been well thought out
for its intended purpose.
To answer the first question. Why another outdoor gear company?
The short answer is that many of us constantly struggle to find kit readily here in the UK , kit we would choose, teamed with the sort of customer service we expect.
Why now? ' We believe that we are ready to see innovation here within our own shores. We are ready to find our own
way'. We liked the principles of the ultralight revolution, not always the product
solutions. To give an example: we are unable, due to legislation, to wild camp on the Pennine Way, a tarp unless very well designed, cannot be used effectively on a camp site - privacy issues. In addition - our weather, influenced by
the ‘jetstream’ is quite a design challenge, not particularly because of
extremes, but because of the regular amounts of precipitation we experience allied
to temperatures which could in combination with wet clothing and gear lead to hypothermia.
We can now answer the
last question, how are we going to differ?
We will provide you with gear suitable for our own climate and terrain here in Northern Europe. Products that will take form from their function. Products fully supported by exceptional and local customer support. We aim to present designs based around useable area - ‘liveabilty’ as we refer to it, items which will 'sustain' your life in the outdoors. We will consider solo use, we will consider group use. We will consider each item as part of a collective ‘system’.
Can we write a new chapter in the book, and decide the end
game rules for ourselves?
